We envision a world where food waste no longer exists.

Why reducing food waste is so important?

Food waste has very significant impacts on the environment (use of natural resources (water, agricultural land, etc.) but also pollution related to food production (use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, etc.) and their destruction).

If food waste was a country, it would be the 3rd largest contributor to CO2 emissions after China and the US.

More than half of the agricultural land that is used unnecessarily because of food waste.

Throwing food also means overloading incinerators and landfills.

Valuing unsold products also means creating jobs and offering quality food.

Fighting this scandal also means promoting the development of a more sustainable food systems for all.

In few figures:

  • 1/3 of the food produced in the world is lost or discarded, equivalent to about 1.3 billion tonnes per year.

  • Food produced but not consumed unnecessarily occupies nearly 1.4 billion hectares of land, which is the size of Canada and India combined.

  • The production of all this lost or discarded food requires about 1/4 of all the water used in agriculture each year.
